Cards of the 1940s and 1950s
Finland spent the first couple of decades following the Continuation War by trying to recover from the war. Finland was still strongly agrarian at this time.
At this time the Radio was starting to be very common while there were basically no televisions. Today we pay a so called "Yle-tax", but before that we had to pay for TV-licenses, and even earlier than that it was Radio Licenses. In Lauri's collection we have 5 Radiolicenses that were sent as postcards.
The collection of cards from the 1940s and 1950s is rather large. Lauri has especially collected cards by Martta Wendelin. A large part of those cards are Christmas cards. In the collection we also find cards sent from the United States and England from this time period.
