The 1990s are a very multifaceted decade for Finland. At the start of the 1990s the fall of the Soviet Union caused Finland to go into a recession. 1995 Finland joined the European Union.

 

Technology advances quickly in the 90s bringing both cellphones and the internet, which both would start to outrival the postcard. Nokia and their mobilephones were extremely important for Finland to recover from the recession.

 

Lauri does not have many cards we can with certainty date to the 1990s. Most of the cards in the collection from this decade are either sent to Lauri by Heikki and Senja or Sirkkaliisa or they were Advertisements.
