Cards of the 1970s

The 1970s continued the wave of migration from rural areas to the city. The decade was defined by President Kekkonen and the collaboration with the Soviet Union.

In the 1970s we can see that the traditional postcard is out-rivaled by the tourist-postcard. Also, most cards that are not meant for the tourist-industry are congratulatory cards, which end up being used instead of normal cards to send messages in several instances in Lauri's collection.

In Lauri's collection we can find tourist-postcards from all around Finland. Most of the cards are either from Lapland or southern Finland.
